Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan died at the age of 48 in London, England, on August 16, 1997.
One of his posthumous
hits was the soundtrack of the 1999 film Kachche Dhaage (he composed all
its songs).
Spread across my
blogs, the subject of this post was the second song from the film.
The song in
question was the female version of Tere Bin Nahin Jeena (a.k.a. Oopar
Khuda Aasmaan Neeche).
Anand Bakshi wrote
the song, which was rendered by Lata Mangeshkar.
It was a cover
version of Khan’s popular qawwali, Tere Bin Nahin Lagda.
