Hasrat Jaipuri wrote
the Anu Malik composition, whose opening verse went, “Aaine ke sau tukde
karke humne dekhe hain, ek mein bhi tanha hain, sau mein bhi akele hain” (which
could be translated to, “I broke the mirror into a hundred pieces and saw myself
in it. I am lonely in one piece, and alone in a hundred”).
